چکیده

purpose: to report a case of idiopathic retinal vasculitis, aneurysm, and retinitis [irvan] with angiographic and optical coherence tomography (oct) findings. case report: a 15-year-old girl with a 2 -month history of decreased visual acuity in both eyes and best corrected visual acuity of 20/70 in both eyes was referred to the retina clinic. mild inflammation was present in anterior chamber and vitreous cavity. there was severe exudative maculopathy, optic disc swelling, multiple tied knot-like aneurysmal dilations of retinal arterioles, and retinal vasculitis bilaterally. systemic and laboratory work-up were negative. oct illustrated severe retinal edema, cystic spaces in nerve fiber layer (nfl), and excrescences on the retinal surface around posterior pole. conclusion: in this report, we present oct findings in a case of irvan syndrome about which few reports are available. the findings show that reduced axonal conduction and schisis-like cavities in nfl may be present.

Idiopathic retinal vasculitis, aneurysms, and neuroretinitis (IRVAN) syndrome: clinical perspectives

Idiopathic retinal vasculitis, aneurysms, and neuroretinitis (IRVAN) syndrome typically affects young, healthy individuals. Despite the dramatic fundus appearance seen in this syndrome, these patients are usually asymptomatic. The syndrome includes peculiar vascular abnormalities in the form of multiple aneurysmal dilatations seen along retinal arterioles and optic nerve-head arterioles, which ...

CASE REPORT A 55 year old woman presented with retinal vasculitis, multiple aneurysms, macular exudation and widespread retinal nonperfusion and was diagnosed with IRVAN. She was treated with panretinal laser photocoagulation. After 3 years of follow up visual acuity remains stable and there are no complications due to ischaemic sequelae. DISCUSSION IRVAN syndrome with neovascularisation can ...

Vanishing retinal arterial aneurysms with anti-tubercular treatment in a patient presenting with idiopathic retinal vasculitis, aneurysms, and neuroretinitis

BACKGROUND Idiopathic retinal vasculitis, aneurysms, and neuroretinitis (IRVAN) syndrome presents with characteristic clinical manifestations such as aneurysms at arteriolar bifurcations and optic nerve and retinal vascular inflammation. Regression of such features on treatment with anti-tubercular therapy (ATT) combined with corticosteroids has not been reported in literature. FINDINGS A 30-...
